Acronyms Part II- The HBIC

As I spent the morning at the Dr's office with all 3 children being tested for strep, I realized there are many many more acronyms within the US Army that have been previously unpublished!

I overheard one soldier use a standard acronym for a job he must maintain and a nurse make the statement "wanna know what I think it stands for??? lol". First thing that came to my mind, oh...I DO!!!

That reminded me of one of my all time favorite acronyms in the US Army:

The HBIC, or The Head B!%^& In Charge.

Now I believe this was originally used to make a statement regarding the NCO (non-commissioned officer and their lack of choice in duties). But we Army wives truly fitting this acronym have stolen the title and earned every letter.

You can always tell the HBIC in every group. Just because you fall into that position in one group, doesn't mean you earn the title in the next!

For instance, we all earn this title on the homefront(just ask our soldiers). But when the wives gather, it becomes a competition. There are some who will volunteer for FRG positions so they can have this title bestowed upon them. There are others who are just natural leaders, and are given this acronym unknowingly. Then there are some of us, that even when we try to hide from this acronym, it still finds us!!

In my opinion, being the HBIC is not something you can learn. Its just something you are. Something you are born with. There are fakers, and people who will strive to meet this acronym, but will ultimately fall short.

Its like having blue eyes. Everybody wants blue eyes. Few are born with them and of course, you can always get contacts, but deep down we all know your eyes are brown, like poop(or being full of poop).

So the burden of being the HBIC falls upon those of us who are born under the crown of bitchiness. So for those of us, burdened with this title, our only recourse is to constantly remind those around us, of why we were given this title.
