Will You Be My Soulja Boy?

Ok, summer is coming to an end so my vacation time is up. I'm afraid if I don't post another blog ranting soon the world may end in utter chaos, lol. The economy has collapsed, we are about owned by China, and I'm convinced my semi-retirement contributed to the nearly crashing stock market. But on a good note my sabbatical did result in the demise of Osama Bin Ladin, right? I guess the fate of the free world depends upon me?? lol Seriously I'm just kidding. My delusions of grandeur haven't reached epic proportions as of yet.

I wish I could say that for the entertainment industry however. I have seen many internet postings regarding a particular rap artist going by the name Soulja Boy. I've hear all about how he supposedly "dissed" the troops and how he thinks he's some bad ass thug gangst rapper. I looked up this video where the supposed "dis" occurred. My first thought, "well he's no Vanilla Ice, but lets dig a little deeper shall we".

So as I'm watching his video, (that appears to be shot in his mothers basement), and all I can think is "where is this little boy's mother?" You have this scrawny little boy wearing a T-shirt depicting Jesus Christ, and a gold chain with a Super Mario brother, throwing the N word around like he knows what it means. Behind him is what appears to be a video game being played on a television that looks like it requires rabbit ears. The violation on my ear drums is too much for me to finish the video. So as for his "dis" on the troops I never got around to hearing it in the context for which was intended. Granted I did read it online but I prefer to save my opinions for the actual intended context.

With that in mind, I will just say this...he's a tool. Regardless of how he feels about the police, FBI or the United States military, his biggest crime isn't disrespect. It's a crime against music.

When someone complains about the military, it is normal for one associated with the military to be offended. However, we have to keep in mind, that people like Soulja Boy can't cut it in this environment. They are remanded to being the high scorer in games like Call of Duty, and taking on a title that imply's they could have been a soldier but their IQ was a little low for enlistment, so the only options left were drooling on themselves or internet Rap Star.

Calling oneself Soulja Boy doesn't give you any more importance than playing Grand Theft Auto makes you a gangsta.

I think until he develops a little rhythm I will listen to and ACTUAL soldier boy's version instead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvtzCxTwq-M&feature=player_embedded
